IFRG Charter

The purpose of the International Fantasy Writers Guild is to foster interest in the writing of Fantasy with sub categories of mixed genres, including Sci/Fi, and Spec/Fic. Following the intent of guilds that were first setup in the middle ages, the IFWG will maintain a system of ongoing education aimed at bettering the craft of writing. This system is based on cooperation and participation by all members, both in discussion and writing boards. The IFWG will provide and maintain the needed web space for this purpose.

In addition,

1. We will provide the facilities for e-publishing for our members. In this regard, we will provide the tools necessary for the author to market such published work. We will list any published e-book on Amazon.com and Google Book Club along with the IFWG web-store.

2. We will provide boards for Fantasy and Sci/Fi Art. This will also facilitate the e-production of graphic novels.

3. We will sponsor an annual writing festival.

4. We will foster interest in Fantasy and Sci/Fi and their sub-genres through our internet presence and our efforts of online advertising.

5. We will spawn local writing groups under the name International Fantasy Writers Guild (Local Chapter), which will fall under the leadership of the International Guild. These groups will be headed locally, by appointed members of the International Guild. These appointments will be chosen at the Annual Meeting. Dues (to be specified) will be payable to the International Guild. All local group members must also be members of the on-line International Fantasy Writers Guild (free section or above).

6. When the time is correct, all Local Chapters will be granted and provided their own web space within the International Guild.

7. All Local Chapters will hold a monthly meeting at which there will be discussions of material provide by the IFWG along with an open discussion forum.

8. As Local Chapters are added, the IFWG will provide each Chapter with IFWG credentials.

9. Each chapter will in turn provide their local members with IFWG credentials.

10. When the time arrives, the IFWG will provide needed web space within the International Guild Site for Continental Region Groups and at that time those regions will assume the responsibility of holding the monthly and Annual meetings. At that time, only Regional Leaders will take part in the Main-IFWG Annual Meeting. Also at that time more will be added as regards the oversight of the Main-IFWG over these IFWG Continental Region Groups.

The IFWG will hold a monthly meeting within Guild Level 1. The purpose of such meeting.

1. To discuss current Guild projects.

2. To discuss future Guild projects (the next month).

3. To encourage the participation of all members.




We will hold an Annual Meeting within Guild Level 3, the purpose of such meeting.

1. To set dates and themes for the IFWG Annual Writing Festival.

2. To appoint a chairperson and officers for the IFWG Annual Writing Festival.

3. Determine changes in dues (if needed).

4. To appoint Officers for Continental Regions.

5. To appoint Local Chapter Leaders.

6. To set the agenda for the year.

Being that we are an International Guild, these meetings will be held within a 24-hour period on; The 1st day of the month; for the monthly meeting. The annual meeting will be held on September 27 each year. This date is chosen because it is the date of the creation of the first IFWG board.
